ONEVIOLIN (Pekka Niemi) is a violinist who performs well-known songs using the sounds of only one violin.
ONEVIOLIN breaks the boundaries and prejudices of musical genres with his international new concept: he performs cover versions of global hits using the sounds of just one violin. Everything from drums to melodies is created entirely with the artist's violin.
The man behind ONEVIOLIN is Pekka Niemi, a 30-year-old Finnish violinist who studied at the Royal College of Music in London, one of the world's most prestigious conservatories. From a young age, he has worked internationally as a violinist, songwriter and producer of string instruments. In 2019 he performed with Finland's biggest band, JVG, at the Ruisrock and Blockfest music festivals.
In spring 2020 ONEVIOLIN participated in the Finnish Talent competition and came second in the final. His final performance was a mix of Finland's greatest hits and consisted of a breathtaking 1500 violin sounds. Later that summer, he performed solo for the first time at Aura Fest and Vaasa Festival.
